Dr. Md Marufur Rahman is the Deputy Program Manager of Medical Biotechnology Program at the Directorate General of Health Services of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Bangladesh. Apart from his education and training as a physician he trained himself in epidemiology, health systems evaluation, computational genomics, cancer molecular biology and precision medicine. He received Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Dhaka, Masters in Public Health (Epidemiology) from the American International University-Bangladesh and MSc in Molecular Medicine (Clinical Applications) from the University of Sheffield, UK. He has been working in health system evaluation based on nationwide health facility based service data and establishment of medical biotechnology program throughout the country through various training programs for last 4 years. He is co-founder of Platform for Medical and Dental Society, which is the largest network of Bangladeshi doctors and medical students and trained more than hundreds of undergraduate medical students on public health research methods. Though Dr. Maruf has mainly been involved in program implementation and monitoring area, he has published several peer-reviewed papers, edited annual National Health Bulletin and working as a coinvestigator in several largescale research projects from the Government. He served as President of Bangladeshi Students Society of the University of Sheffield (2018-2019).
